MPXA® Agricultural Humics

Formulated for the Golf and Turf industry

F.A.R.M. Co., Agricultural Humics Division was established in 1990 to pursue the research and development of Humic Acids for the farming industry. In the early stages of development, it was discovered that in fact, Fulvic and not Humic acid was the key to this endeavor. Humic Acid, although soluble in alkaline solutions, i.e. pH above 7.0 was not soluble in acids, thus creating a severe precipitation problem in all modern acidic fertilization solutions. Further research by F.A.R.M. Co. led to the eventual development of a totally soluble Fulvic acid which not only was soluble in both acidic and basic solutions, but also acted as an extremely potent chelating agent. F.A.R.M. Co.'s product contains a ratio of 90% Fulvic and 10% Humic acids for the most efficient blending of micronutrients.

Chelated micronutrients are almost 10 times more available to the plant than commercially available non-chelated bulk products. Any micronutrient may be chelated for ag and turf use, including iron, calcium, zinc, magnesium, manganese and copper. Fulvic acid is natures' chelating agent. Currently used agents such as EDTA only have the ability to chelate in the order of 45-50% of the available micronutrient cations, and only work in alkaline solutions, whereas Fulvic Acid has the ability to chelate over 95% in all solutions.

In the last several years, further research has led to the development of a new line of products designed specifically for the Golf and Turf Industry, which includes an ever growing line of micronutrients, as well as products for turf and greens maintenance which will result in a healthier growing environment using 20-40% less N P K fertilizers.

The research has been conducted principally by F.A.R.M. Co.'s owner, Dr. Gary D. Waer (Ph.D., Soils Chemistry), in conjunction with laboratories located at the University of California at Santa Barbara.

F.A.R.M. Co.'s proprietary products are manufactured and marketed under the name of MPXA® Agricultural Humics. All MPXA® products are made in the U.S. under the highest of quality standards and quality control.

All this at a tremendous cost savings too! 95% efficiency means MPXA® goes further, accomplishes more and costs less. Additional savings result from the availability of the products in pre-measured containers. The products come dry and ready to mix; therefore you are spared the expense of shipping liquids as well as saving storage space.

MPXA® Agricultural Humics Products

The following are custom blends of Fulvic and Humic acids, combined with a medium strength organic acid designed to enhance the strength, color and durability of greens, tees and fairways.

They are an advanced soil inoculum product for establishing populations of beneficial soil microbes and aiding in the chelation of micronutrients found naturally in the soil, as well as those added through regular treatment. MPXA® stimulates oxygen uptake and increases chlorophyll content within the plant. These acids play an important role in the movement of macro and micronutrients within the soil and to the plant. The availability of these nutrients is essential for the maximizing of turf quality. Buffered acid plays a role in the breakdown of salts found within the soil, thus increasing the micronutrient availability to the plant.

Field tests have shown that MPXA® Humics are compatible with most pesticides, fungicides and growth regulators. However it is always advisable to do a simple jar test for your specific requirements. Please check with your salesman for more information.

MPXA® Greens & Tees Foliar Spray
MPXA® Turf Foliar Spray

These products come in pre-measured dry containers for the treatment of one acre or three acre and 25-50 acre areas respectively. Both are totally soluble and mix well with as little as 5 gallons and 25 gallons of water respectively. These products may be used on a stand-alone basis to enhance the beauty and durability of your greens, tees and turf. Because of their chelating ability, they will also take advantage of unused or non-available micronutrients found in typical soils. These products may also be added to your current applications on a regular basis in order to improve the efficacy, as well as providing a totally chelated micronutrient/macronutrient system in basic and acidic solutions.

The above products, when used according to the label, will enhance the following MPXA® micronutrient proucts where the basic soil is low or devoid of any natural organic material.

MPXA® Chelated Micronutrients

MPXA® Chelated Calcium (20%)

As in human physiology, calcium adds to skeletal strength. It is an essential part of the cell wall structure and must be present for the formation of new cells. Calcium is non-mobile in plants, and therefore continued application is essential. Young tissue is affected first under conditions of deficiency. Greens, tees and fairways treated with MPXA® products are stronger, less likely to be damaged by excessive wear or heat, and are better looking after mowing. Calcium also keeps irrigation water balanced when a high level of magnesium is present.

Calcium is often applied to "tight" soils to improve their physical properties. Calcium replaces sodium soil partials and allows the sodium to be leached below the root zone. Because of the large amounts of calcium needed in some situations, MPXA® Chelated Calcium uses calcium carbonate rather than calcium sulfate as it's base product. This prevents sulfur from being added as a by-product of calcium, lowering the overall application rates of sulfur and giving the manager a choice in the sulfur question. Sulfur may be added when and if necessary. One to two pounds per acre per application is recommened. Re-apply at programmed intervals.

MPXA® Chelated Iron (10%)

Iron is required for the formation of chlorophyll in plant cells. It serves as an activator for biochemical processes such as respiration, photosynthesis, and symbiotic nitrogen fixation. The use of MPXA® Chelated Iron will products a strong green color lasting 25-30 days. Used in conjuction with growth inhibitors, MPXA® Chelated Iron will produce a lovely green turf, without the necessity of additional mowing. One to two pounds per acre per application is recommended. Re-apply at programmed intervals.

MPXA® Chelated High Manganese Combination Micro Package
(Mn 4%, Mg 1%, Fe 3%)

Manganese serves as an activator for enzymes in growth processes. It assists iron in chlorophyll formation, and thus in the oxygen-evolving system of photosynthesis. The chlorophyll molecule in turn contains magnesium. It is therefore also essential for photosynthesis, along with iron. Magnesium serves as an activtor for many plant enzymes required in growth processes, as well as acting like calcium wherein it will replace sodium cations in soil, reducing salinity. Two to four pounds per acre per application is recommended. Re-apply at programmed intervals.

MPXA® 10-20 Manganese Calcium Package (Mn 10%, Ca 20%)

In many areas of the country, Magnesium is found in abundance in both the water and soil. In these instances, it is not necessary to use the above combo to get essential Manganese along with your calcium. This premium package is designed for these areas. Being 95% chelated, no more than one to two pounds per acre are usually required.

Levels of all MPXA® micronutrients are formulated on the generally accepted need per acre (per pound basis) for well maintained greens, tees, and fairways. Because our products are 95-98% chelated, and therefore twice as effective as most chelated products currently in use, the base recommendation per acre may seem low, however when taking into consideration their efficiency, this makes very good economic sense.
